Dear Little Me....it's been awhile

Well hello there! It has been nearly a year since posting on here and I hate letting it go for so long.

This year has been one hell of a roller coaster let me tell you. This year I have reached my limit in Freedom of Information Act requests; I have exposed so many corrupt things going on and the school district I cover went under investigation through the state.

I am surprised my fingers have not fallen off.

But I am back to the Dear Little Me Blog and I am sticking around…. hopefully. I really do like writing these blogs because then I can look back on them and reflect on them. See how much I have changed in such a short time.

Since it’s been nearly a year since you have heard from me little me, let me give you some life updates.

You remember how you thought you would be married and have kids by 23? Well, you’re 23, single after getting out of an exhausting relationship of five years and you’re happier than ever.

You never really understand how much something can drain you mentally until you get out of it. No hate for him, but we both knew it was not going to last much longer and that is okay. In the past few months, I have learned that it is okay to let things end, it is okay to be alone, it is okay to rediscover yourself.

Now does that mean I have discovered myself? Not even close, I am still learning who I am, what I like and who I want to surround myself with and that’s okay. I am only 23 years old; I will get to where I need to be one day.

Let’s see, I continue to shock myself every day. I have taught myself that some days it is okay to wake up and not feel like yourself. But it’s also okay to wake up and feel confident about yourself and the day ahead. I don’t look in the mirror anymore and doubt myself or hate myself. I look in the mirror and I am proud of what I see, who I am becoming and what I have accomplished.

Little me, I think you would be proud. If I had the chance, I would come to you and tell you that it is all going to work out. It will all be okay and that you survived the worst.

You know what else little me? I have finally come to terms with losing Ava. Something I never thought I would ever recover from. It might have taken four years, but I am at peace with it.

Oh! Another thing little me its award season again for the press association and I am so excited to turn in so many hard-hitting pieces over this past year. From exposing a county administrator, reporting on his resignation, the school districts investigation to even some feel good stories. I was honored to tell a little girl’s story about Leigh Syndrome, Dom is a healthy toddler who beat cancer and I even got to report on a ten-year-old raising money for breast cancer. That is just the ones that come to mind right now but trust me, there have been so many amazing stories I have gotten to tell over the past few months, and I can’t wait to continue to tell this community’s stories.

Until next time…little me.
