Dear Little Me...stress
Updated: Jan 24, 2023
Welp this blog topic came a little sooner than expected. Let’s see where I shall begin to even discuss the amount of stress that is piling up on me.
And it is not just with work, that is a given seeing how I am a reporter and all. But with like in general, I did not sign up for a lifetime subscription for adulthood.
To give you a brief insight of my personal life. I live with my wonderful partner of four years and a lowsy roommate. Why do we have a roommate? Simple, we are 22, 23 years old. Do you think here in America, newly college graduate and a state worker can afford their own home?
Not yet anyway. But we have known this person for a few years now and did not think anything of it until recently. He basically screwed us financially. We fronted him for a few months on rent and bills, being told he would pay us back. Well, we had to go to our property manager to see what we can do.
Now he has a move out date but yet he only paid rent and bills for this month. Still has not paid us back for the well over two grand he owes us and what about next month? Will we have to front him for that too or no? We don't know.
So I am financially stressed and I was in a really good spot before all of this occurred. Now I am struggling everyday with the pile of stress this has caused me. My partner and I have a plan for when this lease is up but I could not be more ready for this lease to be up.
Whenever it is I just hope this built-up pressure will be over with.
Now life stress. Really this is just a ranting blog, just needed to air this out. Life is just complicated sometimes. I am still grieving the loss of my niece and recently my cousin. Both of which was very unexpected.
On top of my work stress. Well, the pile of work I am having to do right now. I am getting through it though. Its always the few days out of the week and then the rest flies by with a breeze. Currently I am working on this hard story, an investigation piece really.
Which is the type of reporter I want to be eventually.
And this thing just keeps getting deeper and deeper with the bullshit I keep finding. It is a lot to keep up with, but I have a plan. I am going to separate out my notes, divide each section into a separate story of its own and then tada. Multiple stories while still getting out all of the information the public needs to know.
Have I been working on this story for nearly 2 weeks, yes. Is it nearing completion? Nope. But by the end of the month, it will be public.... fingers crossed nothing else tumbles onto it.
This is one the great things about being a reporter though. I love the investigating and research behind everything.
Now...how do I deal with this stress? Well, honestly, I am still trying to figure that out myself but I have some sort of routine down.
I do not....DO NOT bring my work life into my personal life. Those should always be kept separate. So, when I go home, clocked out, that’s me time. My time, my personal time.
I always try to air out a rant to my partner, it typically helps. Instead of keeping it all bottled up, it helps to just talk about our day.
I distract my mind with tv, reading or playing a video game with friends.
Margaritas. Always. Kidding...not always but you know those days where you just need something to relax you. You know. I know you know what I am talking about.
That is really it, I don't do anything else unless I go out with my friends for dinner or something. I think those things help a lot. If there is anything you do that helps you deal with stress, let me know in the comments.
Yes, there is a comment section...jeez are you blind? I am kidding. I just noticed it a blog post back ha-ha.
But anyway...that’s it for today.
Until next time...little me.
